Thomas M. Tunney
Thomas Tunney was a member of the Chicago City Council in Illinois, representing Ward 44. Tunney assumed office in 2003. Tunney left office on May 15, 2023.
Tunney ran for re-election to the Chicago City Council to represent Ward 44 in Illinois. Tunney won in the general election on February 26, 2019.
At the time of his election in 2003, Tunney was the first openly gay member of city council in Chicago's history.[1][2]

The city of Chicago, Illinois, held elections for city council on February 24, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was November 24, 2014.[3] In the general election for Ward 44, incumbent Thomas M. Tunney defeated Mark Thomas and Scott Davis.[4] Robin Cook withdrew from the race.[5]
