Thomas Joseph Meskill (1928-2007) was a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. He joined the court in 1975 after an appointment by Gerald Ford. At the time of appointment, he was the Governor of Connecticut. He served as Chief Judge from 1992-1993. He assumed senior status on June 30, 1993 and served until his death on October 29, 2007.[1]

Judicial career

Second Circuit

Meskill was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit by Gerald Ford on January 16, 1975, to a seat vacated by John Joseph Smith. He was confirmed by the Senate on April 22, 1975, and received his commission on April 23, 1975. He served as chief judge from 1992-1993. Meskill assumed senior status on June 30, 1993 and passed away on October 29, 2007.[1] He was succeeded to this post by Guido Calabresi.
