Collapse all
|Following a campaign in the 2020 special primary election for State Senate in the Plymouth and Barnstable District, Thomas passed the bar exam and began work as an Assistant District Attorney for the Cape and Islands. Thomas spent most of him time with the office as the prosecutor responsible for handling cases in the Martha’s Vineyard Juvenile Court and the Edgartown District Court. Thomas worked alongside District Attorney Robert Galibois to lay the groundwork for Martha’s Vineyard’s first recovery court, which will address the root cause of repeat offenders with addiction as part of a wholistic approach to public safety.
Public service has always been a central aspect of Thomas’ life. His experiences along the way have reaffirmed his belief that any problem can be solved when a passionate community comes together.- Climate change is not only a political and moral crisis, it is also an economic crisis that is already threatening the Cape and Islands. While disaster relief is essential, we must also be proactive about how we interact with our environment. We need to protect our coastlines from further losses, conserve our wetlands, and promote sustainable practices at every level.
- The rapidly rising cost of living has made it difficult for many people to remain in the towns they have worked in and loved for years. Communities that embrace their low and middle income residents rather than driving them out are always better and more vibrant for it. We need to make sure that such families are able to have a home here, continuing to being a part of our community and strengthening the workforce of the area.
- My peers are dying, and we’re not doing enough to stop it. We need to end the stigma, treating addiction as the disease it is rather than a personal failing. We need to make sure availability and cost are not deterring factors when people are looking for the help they need. We need to stop the trafficking of fentanyl, rethink best practices for prescription pain-killers, and provide first responders with the life-saving resources they need.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
