Nale earned his bachelor's degree from Thomas College and his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law.[1]

Nale worked as an attorney in private practice from 1979 until his appointment to the court in 2016. He served as the Mayor of Waterville from 1986 to 1987.[1]
