Thomas H. Newton was a judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals Western District. He assumed office in 1999. He left office on July 6, 2021.

Newton was appointed to the court in November 1999 by Gov. Mel Carnahan (D). Newton served as chief judge from 2008 to 2010.[1]

Education

Newton was born in Washington, D.C. He received his bachelor's degree from Howard University and his J.D. from Howard University School of Law.[1]

Career

Newton began his legal career in 1984 as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Jackson County. In 1987, he became an assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District. He was appointed circuit judge on the 16th Judicial Circuit in September 1993. He held this position until he was appointed to the court of appeals.[1]
