Thomas Otepka
Thomas Otepka was a judge of the Nebraska 4th District Court. He left office on September 10, 2021.
Otepka ran for re-election for judge of the Nebraska 4th District Court. He won in the retention election on November 6, 2018.
Otepka served in this position from 2003 to 2021. He also served as a judge on the Douglas County Adult Drug Court since 2009.[1][2] Otepka retired from his position on September 10, 2021.[3]
Education
Otepka received a B.S. in biology and a J.D. from Creighton University in 1969 and 1972, respectively.[1]
Career
Otepka began his career in 1972 as an assistant Omaha City prosecutor. In 1975, he became a private practice lawyer. He then joined the district court in 2003 and the drug court in 2009.[1]

2012 judicial performance evaluation
Every two years, the Nebraska State Bar Association compiles responses from lawyers to evaluate judges in the state. Subjects are rated in seven categories, then a determination is made for whether the judge should be retained. The seven categories considered are: legal analysis; impartiality; attentiveness; opinions; judicial temperament and demeanor; appropriate communication; and timeliness.
