Thomas Stander is a judge for the 7th Judicial District Supreme Court in Monroe County, New York. He was first elected in 1990.[1]

Education

Stander received his B.A. degree from Denison University in 1967 and his J.D. degree from Syracuse University in 1970.[1]

Career

Stander began his career in 1969 as a law clerk for the Onondaga County Family Court. The following year, he joined the corporate law department of Aetna Life and Casualty Insurance Company. He then worked as an associate of Woods, Oviatt, Gilman, Sturman and Clarke from 1972 to 1977, was a partner of Sullivan, Peters, Burns & Stander from 1977 to 1981, and was a partner/managing partner of Buyck, Springer, Fitzsimmons, Fitzpatrick, DesMarteau & Stander from 1981 to 1991. He served on the Fairport Village Court from 1975 to 2004 and was an acting judge of the Rochester City Court from 1980 to 1991. In 1990, he was elected to the Supreme Court. He served as the Presiding Justice of the Monroe County Supreme Court's Commercial Division from 1995 to 2005.[1]
