A Thomas Township Fire And Police Levy proposal was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Saginaw County, which is in Michigan, where it was approved.
This proposal authorized the Township of Thomas to impose a property tax levy of 2 mills ($2 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for 10 years in order to fund the fire and police departments of the Township. The estimated first year revenue from this tax is $989,341.46.[1]

Language on the ballot:
| “ | Shall the limitation upon the total amount of general ad valorem taxes imposed upon real and tangible personal property for all purposes in any one year under the Michigan Constitution which has been reduced legally to 1.7407 mills, be renewed at the original 1.7500 mills and increased to 2.00 mills ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value of all such property, which is an increase of 0.2593 per $1,000 dollars of taxable value) for a period of ten (10) years, 2013-2022, inclusive, to provide funds for the operation, equipment, maintenance and capital improvements for the fire and police departments? The amount of revenue the Township of Thomas will collect if that millage is approved and levied by the Township of Thomas in the first calendar year is estimated to be $989,341.46 ($865,673.78 for the renewal and $123,667.68 for the increase). The proposed millage is a renewal of a previously authorized original millage with an increase of 0.2500 mills.[1][2] | ” |
