A Thomas Township Fire Levy Renewal proposal was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Saginaw County, which is in Michigan, where it was approved.
This proposal authorized the Township of Thomas to renew a property tax levy of .25 mills ($0.25 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for 10 years in order to fund the purchase of fire motor vehicles, apparatus, equipment and buildings. The estimated first year revenue from this tax is $123,667.68.[1]

Language on the ballot:
| “ | Shall the limitation upon the total amount of general ad valorem taxes imposed upon real and tangible personal property for all purposes in any one year under the Michigan Constitution which has been reduced by law to .2476 (0.2476 per $1,000 of taxable valuation) be renewed to its original .2500 mills (0.2500 per $1,000 of taxable valuation), for a period of ten (10) years, 2013-2022, inclusive, to provide funds for the purchase of fire motor vehicles, apparatus, equipment and buildings. The amount of revenue the Township of Thomas will collect if that millage is approved and levied by the Township of Thomas in the first calendar year is estimated to be $123,667.68. The proposed millage is a renewal of a previously authorized millage.[1][2] | ” |
