Thomas W. Turner
Thomas W. Turner was a judge of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed to this position by Gov. Jeb Bush and took office in January 2003. He was retained in the August 24, 2010, primary election to a six-year term that ended on January 2, 2017.[1][2][3]
Education
Turner received his B.A. degree (in political science) from Ball State University in 1969 and his J.D. degree from the Wayne State University Law School in 1974.[4]
Career
Turner began his career in 1974 as a Trial Attorney for the U.S. Dept. of Justice. In 1978, he became the First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois. He then served as First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana (1983-1986, 1991-2003) and in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida (1986-1991). He also ran his own private law practice. In 2003, he returned to Florida to join the Circuit Court.[5][1]
Since joining the court, he has served in the Osceola County Criminal division and the Orange County Criminal, Civil and Juvenile divisions.[4]
2010 election
Turner ran unopposed and was automatically retained to a new term.[2]
