Thomas Welch (Maine)
Thomas Welch is the former chair of the Maine Public Utilities Commission. He was appointed to the position in April 2011, and retired from the role on December 31, 2014, two years before his term was slated to end.[1] He had previously served as chair of the commission from 1993-2005.[2]
Biography
Between his commission appointments, Welch worked for PJM Interconnection, a Pennsylvania-based Regional Transmission Organization, and for five years was an attorney at Pierce Atwood, LLP, in Portland, Maine, specializing in energy and utility law.[2] Prior to that, he served as Chief Deputy Attorney General for Antitrust in the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, in-house counsel for Bell Atlantic, and Assistant Professor at Villanova University School of Law.[2]
