Four seats on the Thompson School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 3, 2015.[1] The seats of District A incumbent Donna Rice, District C incumbent Denise Montagu, District D incumbent Pam Howard and District G incumbent Bob Kerrigan were on the ballot.[2]
Rice did not file to run for re-election in District A, leaving the seat open to a newcomer. Jeff Swanty defeated Aimie Randall for the District A seat. In District C, incumbent Montagu defeated challenger Vance Hansen. Howard defeated challenger Tomi Grundvig for the District D seat. The District G seat was left open to a newcomer. David Levy won the District G race against Bruce Finger.[3]

Thompson School District is based in north-central Colorado in Larimer County. The district serves students in Loveland, Berthoud and Fort Collins as well as sections of Boulder and Weld Counties. Larimer County was home to 299,630 residents according to the 2010 U.S. Census.[4] Thompson School District was the 16th-largest school district in Colorado, serving 15,655 students during the 2011-2012 school year.[5]
Demographics
Larimer County outperformed the rest of Colorado in terms of higher education achievement based on the 2010 U.S. Census. The average household income in Larimer County was $57,215, compared to $57,685 for the state of Colorado. The poverty rate in Larimer County was 13.4 percent, compared to 12.5 percent for the entire state. The U.S. Census also found that 43.1 percent of Larimer County residents aged 25 years and older earned a bachelor's degree, compared to 36.3 percent in Colorado.[4]

Voter and candidate information
The Thompson Board of Education consists of seven members who are elected by district to four-year terms. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 3, 2015. Four seats were on the ballot in November 2015.[2]
Individuals interested in running for the board began circulating nominating petitions on August 5, 2015. The filing deadline for school board candidates to get on the ballot in the 2015 general election was August 28, 2015, and the filing deadline to serve as a write-in candidate was August 31, 2015.[1]
