Three candidates seek King County judgeship
August 4, 2010
Washington: Three candidates will compete on August 17, 2010 in a primary election for a King County Northeast Division judgeship. If no candidate receives over 50% of the vote, the top two candidates will move on to the November 2nd general election. The vacant position on the King County court was created last year due to an increasing caseload.
Donna Tucker has worked a substitute municipal and district court judge since 2000. Previously, she co-managed the law firm of Tucker & Stein P.S. Inc. from 1987 to 2004. She said, "My responsibility is not just to the letter of the law, but the spirit of the law...I think people need to know the judge is listening and will do the right thing."
Ketu Shah has worked as a domestic violence prosecutor for over 10 years and a substitute District Court judge for 3 years. “It was that experience that led me to understand exactly what the courts can do and how it impacts peoples’ lives,” he said. If elected, he said he will be a fair, patient and respectful judge.
Larry Mitchell has been a Redmond city prosecutor for 16 years, handling various types of cases in the District Court. He also volunteered at the Eastside Legal Assistance Program for 15 years. He values patience, knowledge of the law, compassion, and decisiveness in a judge. He said, "I want to make sure people are treated fairly."[1]
