Three judicial contests in upcoming primary

North Carolina: Candidates are preparing for a May 4th primary election. There are two open seats on the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Judge Ann Calabria, of the N.C. Court of Appeals; District Judge Jane P. Gray; and Superior Court Judge Mark E. Klass are competing for one of the seats. Candidates for the other position are: attorneys Al Bain and Leto Copeley; Court of Appeals Judge Rick Elmore; and Steven Walker, a law clerk.

Aside from the statewide election, three candidates are competing in Buncombe County for an open seat on the 28th Judicial District Superior Court: Assistant district attorney Kate Dreher; District Court judge (28th District) Marvin Pope; and Alan Z. Thornburg, a current Superior Court judge in the 28th District.[1]
