Three nominated to federal district courts

Washington, D.C.: President Barack Obama made three nominations to the federal judiciary on May 11, 2011. He nominated Richard G. Andrews to the District of Delaware, Cathy Bencivengo to the Southern District of California, and Jeffrey J. Helmick to the Northern District of Ohio.

He said of the nominees: "Throughout their long and impressive legal careers, Richard G. Andrews, Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo and Jeffrey J. Helmick have distinguished themselves as some of our nation’s best and brightest. I am honored to nominate them for the District Court Bench, and am confident they will approach the job with the utmost integrity and impartiality."[1]

Andrews is nominated to replace Joseph Farnan who has retired, Bencivengo is nominated to the seat of Jeffrey Miller after his retirement, and Helmick is nominated to James G. Carr's former seat.[2]
