All government and direct impact to our communities start at the local level. Because of that very reason, the qualities of this office possess major importance to the residents of our city-parish.
My mom. She is the epitome of strength, resilience and character. Everything I am is because of her.
Fair, Honest, Accessible and Accountable are all key principles for an elected official.
I have an excessive track record of promoting and crafting policy in addition to working with various lawmakers (local, state and national).
To protect, defend and represent the residents of District 2 appropriately. Additionally, it is critical for the representative to secure resources for his/her constituents with the intent to enhance the community.
That I did my absolute best to serve the everyday American citizen with the goal to leave my time of service ensuring that life was a better than it was before my tenure of service.
I was a student worker at my alma mater. I started my senior year of high school until graduation per the requirements of the General Cooperative Education Program.
Walk Through Fire by Sheila Johnson. She was a former educator and told her story of how she overcame adversity to be triumphant in her quest to become a success. We share similar qualities.
Absolutely. One has to be able to navigate in this political climate to make effective change in the community via the council.
Working with people and multiple groups (faith based, homeowners associations, business and all political affiliations), articulate (spokesperson for the community), and the ability to research and study trends that could directly effect the future.
It's a part of the local government leadership-so many decisions are made on this level that will last for years to come. The residents need to know just how vital that truly is.
Congressman Troy Carter, State Senator Regina Barrow, State Representative Barbara Carpenter, School Board Member Carla Powell-Lewis
It is critical to remain transparent and accountable to the public in all spending. As a fiduciary and member of the metro council, I intend to do just that.
