After Hudson won the primary for the judicial seat, the Alabama Judicial Resources Allocation Commission transferred the judgeship from Jefferson County to Madison County. As a result, the general election for the seat was canceled. The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and the ACLU of Alabama sued to have the judgeship restored to Jefferson County. Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Jimmy B. Pool dismissed the case.[1][2][3]
