A Tieton City Annexation into Yakima County Fire District measure was on the November 2, 2010 ballot in the city of Tieton, which is in Yakima County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 993 (84.27%)Approveda
  • NO 181 (15.73%)[1]

This measure asked city voters if they wanted the city to be annexed into the Yakima County Fire District 1 area. Prior, the city paid the fire district for protection through a contract, but the city found the services offered were being charged more than they cost to others who were in the district area. Since it was approved, homeowners will pay $.71 per $1,000 of assessed property value towards the district protection, a cost less than the current contract rate.[2]
