I’m Tiffany Jones, a local mom and Territory Executive for a medical device company who has a decade of experience in owning a business. I was born in San Diego, CA. I graduated from UCSD with a BA in Psychology. I moved to Nevada in 2005 to begin my career in the wedding cake industry, which provided the necessary experience to open my own bakery business in 2011. That is also the year I purchased my first house in Las Vegas, and I have called Mountain’s Edge my home for the past 11 years. My daughter, Jovi, was born on June 28, 2012, exactly one year to the day before I opened my brick-and-mortar wedding cake boutique, Peridot Sweets, which I sold in 2019. I'm active in my community by being involved in organizations such as Disabled American Veterans and Serving Our Kids. In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano, practicing my marksmanship at shooting ranges, creating cooking videos to help working moms, as well as cooking for and entertaining family and friends.
  • Improving K-12 Education - I’m a firm believer that every child deserves the opportunity to have a great education. My Filipino mother instilled in me the importance of a high-quality education, hard work, and tenacity, which are values I am passing on to my own daughter. Parents should be empowered to advocate for their children and should be the ultimate decision makers when it comes to where their children attend school. Zip codes should not dictate where a child must go to school.
  • Nevada's COVID-19 Response - It was great that the pharmaceutical industry was able to respond so quickly with a vaccine option, however I was discouraged that the individual decision on whether to get vaccinated became highly politicized. There was an intolerance to opposing views that developed, whether that meant the individual was pro-vaccination or not. Moving forward, we should respect one another’s choices, and that goes for the business community as well. Businesses should be able to decide what policies and decisions best fit the needs and safety of their employees and patrons.
  • Public Safety - The bottom line is, we deserve to be safe! Safe in our homes, neighborhoods, businesses, and public places. Our children need to be able to play outside. As a woman, I want to feel secure in going for a walk or run, alone. Neighborhood crime is increasing rapidly. We need to get the women and men of law enforcement the tools and training they need to keep us safe.
The issue I am most passionate about by far is education. As the mother to a young daughter, I am concerned and frustrated that Nevada continues to rank either 49th or 50th in the country when it comes to our state's educational system. We need accountability measures in place when it comes to funding education. Let's fund targeted programs and keep them in place long enough so we know whether or not they are actually working. I am also a strong advocate for empowering parents with school choice. Parents are the best advocates for their children and should be able to decide what educational system works best. The Clark County School District also needs to be broken up into small more manageable districts. It is too big to function properly. and our children are suffering as a result.
