The city of Lubbock, Texas, held elections for mayor and city council on May 7, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 19, 2016. Four of six council seats were up for election on the same day, the three regularly-scheduled for election and District 1, which was up for a special election. Two of them were up for runoff election on June 25, 2016, including the District 1 seat.[2] Shelia Patterson-Harris and Jared Hall defeated Gordon Harris, Christopher Moore, and Tiger Pratt in the Lubbock City Council District 2 general election.[3]
