Married for 42 years, Susan and I have called Marion home our entire lives. Our family was built here, and our roots in this community run deep. Although our two sons and daughters-in-law now live in North Carolina, they remain central to our lives and to the values we hold dear. That perspective reinforces why strong, stable local government matters: families rely on safe communities, dependable infrastructure, and responsible leadership—whether their loved ones live down the street or states away. My public service is driven by a desire to ensure Williamson County remains a place where families can put down roots with confidence.

My faith is also an important part of my life. I am active at Aldersgate Global Methodist Church, where I value the sense of community, service, and accountability that comes with being part of a church family. It has shaped how I approach leadership and how I treat the people I serve. Friends and colleagues describe me as steady and hardworking, and I take that to heart. To me, being steady means showing up every day with consistency, keeping a level head, and staying focused even when challenges arise. Being hardworking means putting in the time, doing the research, asking the right questions, and following through until the job is done. I bring that same commitment to my role in county government.

I am motivated to serve because I want to help build a strong and stable future for the next generation. My goal is to ensure Williamson County remain
  • Taxpayers deserve confidence that their money is being managed wisely. Strengthening fiscal oversight and maintaining responsible budgeting helps ensure that essential services are delivered without placing unnecessary burdens on families. The addition of an internal auditor has improved accountability by providing independent review of county finances and helping ensure that taxpayer dollars are used responsibly and transparently. This work also includes overseeing county financial policies so that spending, reporting, and long-term planning remain consistent, disciplined, and aligned with the best interests of Williamson County residents
  • Improving systems, processes, and infrastructure helps the county operate more efficiently. This work has included upgrading outdated technology, implementing new IT systems, and bringing modern software into daily operations.

We rebuilt the Supervisor of Assessments Office with new leadership, updated tools, and modern software that will allow the office to run more smoothly and operate more efficiently for residents and taxing bodies.

We also rebuilt the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) to ensure the department has the structure, staffing, and equipment needed to respond effectively during emergencies. These improvements were demonstrated in the coordinated response to the May 16 tornado in southern Williamson County.
  • My work on regional boards has shown how collaboration can drive economic development, public health improvements, and workforce opportunities. Strengthening these partnerships helps the county grow responsibly and improves quality of life for people across Southern Illinois. The county has also supported long term infrastructure needs by directing ARPA funding to local water and sewer utilities, helping communities upgrade essential systems and prepare for future growth. In addition, the County and the City of Marion have worked together to develop new ball fields that support youth sports and expand sports tourism. These projects bring families into the region, support local businesses, and contribute to broader economic development.
I’m committed to responsible, transparent government that protects taxpayers and earns trust. I fight for balanced budgets, disciplined spending, and real oversight. By pushing modern tools, internal auditing, and clear financial reporting, I’m making county government more efficient, more accountable, and focused on delivering value—not waste.
