Tim Burchett (Republican Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Tennessee's 2nd Congressional District. He assumed office on January 3, 2019. His current term ends on January 3, 2027.

Burchett (Republican Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Tennessee's 2nd Congressional District. He declared candidacy for the Republican primary scheduled on August 6, 2026.[source]

Biography

Tim Burchett was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1964. He earned his bachelor's degree in education from Tennessee University in 1988.[1][2] He previously worked as a businessman. Burchett served in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1994 to 1998, the Tennessee Senate from 1998 to 2010, and Knox County mayor from 2010 to 2018.[3][4][2]

Congress convened a joint session on January 6-7, 2021, to count electoral votes by state and confirm the results of the 2020 presidential election. Burchett voted against certifying the electoral votes from Arizona and Pennsylvania. The House rejected both objections by a vote of 121-303 for Arizona and 138-282 for Pennsylvania.
