Opposition

The Roanoke County School Board is composed of five members selected by district. The elections for these seats are staggered, and the members serve four-year terms.[3] Three seats were on the general election ballot on November 3, 2015. The seats of Catawba District incumbent David Wymer and Cave Spring District incumbent H. Odell Minnix were up for regularly scheduled election. The Vinton District seat was up for special election due to the resignation of former board member Mike Stovall.[4][5]

Newcomers Donald Butzer and Tom McCracken III faced off for the Catawba District seat, while T.J. Lange and Michael Wray competed for the Cave Spring District seat. McCracken and Wray won their respective races. Tim Greenway won election to the Vinton District seat without opposition.[6]
