|As the leader of the office charged with coordination of the State's Audit efforts, I will work cooperatively with all state agencies to promote good governance and fiscal responsibility. I will also focus on larger more impactful audits that will make a real difference for our state. I also plan on implementing changes that will proactively go after fraud, waste, and abuse rather than relying solely on the passive approach of working tips that come from the hotline. I will do this by developing/working sources and using data analytics.
In addition to my experience in the Marines and at the Office of the State Auditor, I've worked in banking and in private legal practice. I've been married to my wife Jennifer for over 21 years and we have three children. I'm a deacon in our church and an assistant Scoutmaster in my boy's Boy Scout Troop.- Hoegemeyer will work cooperatively to promote good governance and sound fiscal management within state government.
- Hoegemeyer will proactively and aggressively expose fraud, waste, and inefficiencies/ineffectiveness in state government.
- Hoegemeyer will work to ensure any audit or investigation done by his office is relevant, meaningful and delivered timely so stakeholders are able to make wise and well-timed decisions.
Responsible spending of taxpayer's money.
An elected official needs to understand the citizens are their boss and that is whom they serve.
My first job out of college is perhaps the one I'm the most proud of, that is being an Officer of Marines.
(Except for his arrogance).
The State Auditor's office is the Taxpayer's watchdog. As such, it is charged with conducting audits and investigations to determine if taxpayer's money is being spent effectively and efficiently.
It does this through financial statement audits, information system audits, performance audits, and fraud investigations.
In addition, the holder of this office should conduct their job with complete independence and have the ability to lay all political and ideological beliefs aside in furtherance of the mission to promote fiscal responsibility and expose fraud and waste. Therefore, the State Auditor needs to be of the highest moral character and possess great integrity.
