Timothy Jennings
Timothy Jennings (b. September 4, 1950) is a former Democratic member of the New Mexico Senate, representing District 32 from his appointment in July 1978 to January 2013. He served as Majority Whip from 1992 to 1996. He was also a Minority Whip and, in his final term, President Pro Tempore. Jennings was Commissioner for Chaves County from 1975 to 1978.
On April 30, 2013, Jennings was appointed to serve on New Mexico's State Investment Council.[1]
Biography
Jennings earned his B.S.B.A. from Creighton University in 1972. His professional experience includes working as a businessman and as a ranch manager since 1974.[2]

Jennings was the target of a lawsuit filed with the 5th Judicial District Court in Chaves County by Cliff R. Pirtle alleging Timothy Z. Jennings did not meet state petition requirements that said that each petition must have the district number of the office they are seeking written on them. Jennings could have been taken off the ballot if his petitions were found to be in violation of the law. The ruling was in favor of Jennings and said there was no evidence of fraud.[3]

Jennings ran for re-election in 2012. He ran unopposed in the June 5, 2012, Democratic primary. He was defeated by Cliff R. Pirtle in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[4][5]

On November 4, 2008, Jennings was re-elected to the 32nd District in the New Mexico Senate. Jennings had no challenger.[6]
