Tim Phillips was the president of the political advocacy group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) from 2006 to 2021.[1][2]

Biography

After graduating from Virginia Tech University with a bachelor's degree in political science, Phillips worked on local, state, and national political campaigns. He was Rep. Bob Goodlatte's (R-Va.) campaign manager for the congressman's first bid for office in 1992 and later became Goodlatte's chief of staff.[1][3]

In 1997, Phillips co-founded a political consulting and public relations firm, Century Strategies. He became president of Americans for Prosperity in 2006.[1] Phillips was also an organizer in the Tea Party movement.[4]

Politico ranked Phillips as a top-25 public policy player in 2012.[1]
