Campaign themes

2016

Pitcher's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Jobs

  • It’s still too hard to get a job and climb the ladder, and one of the reasons is that Minnesota is not as competitive as it should be. If we want Minnesota to be the best place in the world to live, work, and raise a family, we need to improve our business climate to attract more companies and to help small business thrive.

Education

  • ALL children deserve a high quality education. Without a good education, it’s hard to succeed in life. Yet different kids have different educational needs, so there is no “one size fits all” school to fill those needs. That’s why I support allowing parents to choose the best school for their children, and having the funding follow the child to the classroom of their choice.

Life

  • I believe that every life is precious, and begins at conception and ends at natural death.

Taxes

  • Minnesotans pay some of the highest taxes in the nation, and it’s time that our representatives spend more effort on delivering high quality services at a reasonable cost, rather than on figuring out how to squeeze more dollars out of families trying to build a better life.

Transportation

  • People shouldn’t have to waste time in traffic jams, or worry about potholes throwing their cars out of alignment. The key to a high quality transportation system is focusing on the solutions that work and making smart investments with our gas tax dollars. Legislators have been neglecting the basics of building and maintaining good roads, while focusing on projects that cost too much and deliver too little value.[1]
