Tim Sanders (Minnesota)
Timothy "Tim" Sanders is a former Republican member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 37B from 2009 to 2017. Beginning in the 2015 session, Sanders served as Assistant Majority Leader until he left office. In the 2013-2014 legislative session, Sanders served as a Minority Whip.
Sanders did not seek re-election to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2016.
Biography
Sanders earned his B.A. in political science from the University of Minnesota. His professional experience includes working as a Commercial Insurance Representative for Fireman's Fund Insurance, and serving on the staff of U.S. Representative Jim Ramstad.[1]

2014
Elections for the Minnesota House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 12, 2014, and a general election took place on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Susan Witt was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Tim Sanders was unopposed in the Republican primary. Sanders defeated Witt in the general election.[9][10][11]

Sanders won re-election in the 2012 election for Minnesota House of Representatives District 37B. He defeated Torey Hall in the Republican primary on August 14 and defeated Jon Chlebeck (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[12]

Sanders won re-election to the District 51A seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. He defeated Zak Chlebeck (DFL) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[13]

On November 4, 2008, Sanders won election to the District 51A Seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives, defeating Shawn Hamilton and Daniel Sanders. [14]

Taxpayers League of Minnesota
The Taxpayers League of Minnesota, a Minnesota-based taxpayer advocacy organization, releases a legislative scorecard for the Minnesota House of Representatives and Minnesota State Senate once a year. The scorecard gives each legislator a score based on how they voted in the prior legislative term on tax issues and “their efforts to balance the state budget without a tax increase.” The organization also compiles a legislator’s individual "Lifetime Score."[16]

Sanders received a score of 92% in the 2013 scorecard, ranking 13th out of all 134 Minnesota House of Representatives members.[17]
