Tim Shaffer was a judge for the Butler County Magisterial District in Pennsylvania. He was nominated by Governor Ed Rendell and confirmed by the Pennsylvania State Senate. He was appointed to a term that began in May 2010 and ended in December 2011. He was then elected to the seat for a term that expires in 2018.[1][2][3] Shaffer retired in December 2015.[4]

Shaffer won both parties' primaries on May 17. He received 57.6 percent in the Democratic primary and 62.1 percent of the vote in the Republican primary.[5] He was elected after running unopposed on November 8. [6]
