An effort to recall Ward 1 City Councilman Tim Sherrick did not go to a vote in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, after recall organizers announced they were ending the effort to instead focus on the 2026 general election.[1][2]

Recall supporters

Recall organizer Quinn Schipper said on the Recall Sherrick Facebook page:[3]

BARTLESVILLE’S CITY COUNCIL IS NONPARTISAN, meaning councilors are to represent all Bartlesville citizens impartially, regardless of political affiliation, religion, race, age, or gender.

Ward 1 City Councilman TIM SHERRICK made it abundantly clear at the April 7, 2025, City Council meeting that he IS STRICTLY PARTISAN. He shamelessly claimed his political party represents 67% of Bartlesville voters – to the estrangement of everyone else.

HERE'S THE TRUTH.

Sherrick only represents AN EXTREMIST MINORITY FACTION that comprises less than .5% of all registered voters. In other words, he has ALIENATED 99.5% OF CITIZENS! He and his handlers repeatedly attempt to impose their partisan platform politics on a nonpartisan counsel, THEREFORE, UPON YOU. When, also on April 7, he crassly questioned the mayor’s religion, the packed council room erupted spontaneously into loud booing.[4]

Recall opponents

Sherrick gave the following statement in response to the recall effort:[5]

The accusations leveled against me are baseless and demonstrably false. The individual behind this effort—a former council member appointed to fill a vacancy who later failed in his reelection bid—now claims to represent the 'real majority' in Bartlesville and in my Ward. That claim is contradicted by both the facts and recent electoral outcomes.

I have always sought to represent the voice of my constituents, not that of an ‘extremist minority faction’. The coordinator of this recall is currently aligned with a group that split from the county Republican Party over longstanding internal disputes. This group does not reflect the mainstream views of our conservative, family-oriented community.

In Bartlesville, approximately 67% of voters support conservative, traditional values, including a strong belief in limited government, fiscal responsibility, and individual liberty. Those principles were central to my campaign—and they resonated strongly with voters. In fact, the last election saw a wave of change, with 60% of city council incumbents replaced, a clear mandate for the kind of leadership I promised to provide.

I remain fully committed to representing the people—not the interests of the entrenched establishment. I believe this recall effort is not only a personal attack, but a deliberate attempt to derail the progress we've made and to undermine the will of the voters.

The coordinator’s claims border on libel and are designed to spread misinformation and foster division. Such tactics only serve to deepen rifts in our community at a time when unity and accountability should be our focus. [4]
