Timothy L. Brooks is a federal judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas. President Barack Obama nominated Brooks on June 7, 2013.[1] Brooks was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 5, 2014 on a vote of 100-0.[2] Prior to his confirmation he was a partner with Fayetteville, Arkansas law firm Taylor Law Partners, LLP.

Early life and education

Brooks received his B.S.B.A. in 1986, from the University of Arkansas, and then went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1989.[1]

On June 7, 2013, President Barack Obama nominated Timothy L. Brooks to the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas to fill the vacancy left by Jimm Hendren.[1][4] The President also nominated Jeffrey Meyer the same day, and commented that he is "honored to put forward these highly qualified candidates for the federal bench," adding that, "they will be distinguished public servants and valuable additions to the United States District Court."[4]

Brooks' nomination was returned by the Senate on January 3, 2014 and he was renominated on January 6th by President Obama.[6]

Brooks's nomination was reported to the full Senate on January 16, 204 after a voice vote by the Senate Judiciary Committee.[7] He was confirmed on March 5, 2014 by the Senate on a vote of 100-0.[2]
