Timothy Churchwell is a judge on the Seventh Judicial District in Douglas County, Minnesota. He was appointed by Governor Mark Dayton (D) on December 23, 2016, and took office following Judge David Battey's retirement on January 3, 2017.[1]
Biography
Churchwell received a bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University and a J.D. from Hamline University School of Law. At the time of his judicial appointment, he was a shareholder at Peters and Churchwell, P.A. and an assistant public defender for the Seventh Judicial District. His professional experience also includes working at the law firms of Brown and Sellnow and Curott and Jesse, and as a law clerk. Churchwell has been involved with the Minnesota Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board, the Todd-Wadena Community Corrections Board, the Swanville Lion’s Club, and the Todd County Law Library Board of Trustees.[1]
