I am a senior at Bryant University majoring in Politics and law. I have grown up in Westerly RI and went to the schools there. I currently serve as the Secretary of the Westerly Economic Development Commission. My top two issues are helping small businesses recover from the impact of covid-19 and grow. My second one is focusing on improving our schools. Businesses need help now more than ever that is why I will pursue aid to local businesses that have been greatly impacted so that they can get through the winter and the rest of the pandemic. Our business community needs our help, and the state should respond as such. As for education I promise to not cut education funding during the pandemic if elected. I also want to ensure that the state will help build new facilities across the state and give our teachers the tools they need to teach. During the pandemic school funding is of the most likely things to get cut even though we know schools across the state are underfunded and need state money. I stand behind out schoolteachers and administrators because I want to give every student the best education we can provide.
  • I pledge to make out public schools better and give our students the best education possible.
  • I will support our local businesses get through Covid-19 by seeking more funding for them.
  • I promise to support legislation that will protect our environment
I am passionate about education policy and environmental policy such as renewable energy, and looking at other ways to reduce out carbon footprint on the environment.
I look up to Einstein because I like they way they had left an impact on the world through their work. I also admire his dedication to his own work and never stopping until he could find the solution.
Some core responsibilities of this office are being their for your constituents to hear their voice and to be their voice in the state house. Another role is to be independent of big money and truly represent the constituents who voted you in, not the people who just donated to your campaign.
I would like to leave a legacy that shows great improvement to the RI school system that is so desperately needed. We need strong people now who care about our students and who care about our future to make a meaningful investment in their lives so they can live a prosperous life.
When it comes to prior experience I think it can be beneficial but should not be the determining factor because while experience can help you get legislation crafted and passed faster or form bonds with other legislators quicker it isn't the end all be all. Lack of experience is how many legislators start many do not have any direct experience and their first time can be rough but we can all get through it. We can also form better bonds with new legislators as well.
