Timothy Runkle graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor's degree in Geology. He currently works in the environmental consulting industry as a Senior Project Manager resolving client risks and liabilities while ensuring the protection of human health and the environment. His field of expertise involves complex environmental problems that require a firm handle of regulatory, business, and stakeholder knowledge.

Tim has been involved with his local Green Party since 2005 and he presently serves on several committees of the Green Party of Pennsylvania (GPPA) focusing on fundraising, outreach, and education. In 2017, he ran for Elizabethtown Borough Council and Judge of Elections receiving 8.5% of the vote in the three-way race for Borough Council and winning the Judge of Elections office. In 2019 he won the Elizabethtown Tax collector election through a write-in campaign; however, chose not assume the office.

As an energetic follower of public legislation, Tim is a frequent contributor to newspapers circulating in central Pennsylvania. His letters to the editor intend to alarm readers about our legislative actions with a focus on peace, justice, ecology, and democracy.
  • We need jobs that enrich our communities and do not export the profits of our labor to polluting industries. We need an economy that is sustainable, equitable, and coexistent with a healthy environment. It is time to set the stage for a Green New Deal in Pennsylvania.
  • Reliance on property taxes for public school system funding has caused a disproportionate burden on those with lower and fixed incomes. While more state funding of the public school system is required to see relief on local taxes, we must update our tax code to allow for an equitable graduated tax rate structure and address loopholes in corporate taxes.
  • The United States has the highest incarceration and recidivism rates of industrialized countries, while our nation's criminal justice system is inhumane, ineffective, and prohibitively expensive. Our priorities must include efforts to prevent violent crime and address the legitimate needs of victims, while addressing the socio-economic root causes of crime and practicing policies that prevent recidivism.
If we are to survive the impending climate emergency we must make a change in the way think about public policy. The consumptive model of gross domestic profit fails to capture the true cost of our actions. The economic models have been structured in ways to ensure that unemployment and low wages are the norm. It's time to re-evaluate our revenue and spending priorities so that that genuine progress can be made and considers the real-life social value of our actions. With the office of State Treasurer I will persistently identify practices that are detrimental to our social and environmental well-being and sustainability and call the Governor and General Assembly to the table for their failures as well as successes. I will act with respect to indigenous rights, to restore peoples of color, in support of labor, and to preserve our lands for future generations.
