My name is Tina Talim and I am the current presiding judge in District Court Department 14. I was appointed to the bench this year after a two-decade career as a trial attorney with the Clark County District Attorney's Office.

I am the only candidate in this race with judicial experience. I have presided over hundreds of civil litigation cases. As a former prosecutor, I have handled thousands of criminal cases.

Judges are tasked with making decisions that affect lives, liberty, finances, and property. Clark County, Nevada, deserves judges who have the necessary experience in both civil and criminal law. With my experience in civil and criminal law, I bring a balanced approach to the bench.

I moved to Las Vegas over twenty years ago, shortly after graduation from law school. I chose to make this community my home and the place where I raise my twin daughters. I have dedicated my career to serving the people of the state of Nevada and I wish to continue to do so from the bench.
  • As the presiding judge in Department 14, I am committed to upholding the highest standards of fairness and impartiality. I ensure every decision I make is grounded in the law and facts and is free from external influence or bias. The proper role of a judge is to interpret the law and apply the law as it is written. I do not legislate from the bench. Justice must always be served with integrity, and I pledge to continue to serve our community with fairness, dignity, and respect.
  • I have dedicated my career to serving the people of the state of Nevada and I now continue to do so from the bench. With nearly 20 years spent as a criminal prosecutor and my current service as a judge, I bring a deep understanding of the law -- both criminal and civil. As a former prosecutor, I handled thousands of felony cases and took dozens of cases to jury verdict. As a judge, I have handled hundreds of complex civil matters, including presiding over civil trials, motions, and evidentiary hearings. I am the only candidate for Department 14 with the necessary experience Clark County residents deserve.
  • I have broad support from our community. The civil and criminal bars are both supporting my campaign to retain my seat in Department 14. This is a testament to my experience and ability to handle complex civil and criminal matters. As a former trial attorney, having tried dozens of felony cases, I have the necessary trial experience that is critical for judges. Attorneys who lack this experience are unable to make quick and thoughtful decisions, and this causes justice to be delayed. I have the endorsement of every major law enforcement agency in the state of Nevada. This is evidence of law enforcement's trust in my commitment to public safety. Firefighters, veterans, businesses, and labor unions have also all endorsed me.
I am passionate about ensuring public safety, equal access to justice, and protecting due process rights of individuals.

My experience as a former prosecutor has given me a strong understanding of the need to protect our community from crimes while balancing that effort with addressing root causes of crimes as a means to reduce recidivism.

Ensuring every person has equal and fair access to justice, regardless of their background or resources, is something I am deeply committed to.

Finally, ensuring everyone's constitutional and civil rights are protected is a fundamental responsibility of the judiciary.

In Department 14, these policies are not just abstract principles; they are the commitment I make to our community as the judge.
The most important characteristic for an elected official is integrity. Integrity in the judiciary ensures decisions are based on what the law is, and not what I feel it ought to be. Integrity forms the foundation of effective public service. As the Department 14 judge, integrity is at the heart of every decision I make. I ensure my decisions are rooted in fairness and I uphold the law without bias or outside influence.
The core responsibility of a judge is to ensure justice is fairly and impartially served. As the judge in Department 14, I have upheld this principle by applying the law with integrity and ensuring ever case receives the attention it deserves.
I would like to leave a legacy of fairness, integrity, and accessibility in the judiciary. I want to be remembered as a judge who consistently applied the law impartially, one who treated everyone who entered my courtroom with respect, and one who made thoughtful and well-reasoned decisions. Ultimately, I would like my legacy to be one of dedication to upholding the principles of justice and making a positive and lasting impact in Clark County, Nevada.
A little-known power of a judge is the ability to officiate marriages. Officiating marriages is a privilege that connects me with the community in a meaningful and joyous way. It is a reminder that being a judge transcends the courtroom. Being a judge fosters connections and trust within the community.
My legal philosophy is rooted in a commitment to fairness, impartiality, and respect for the rule of law. Every case must be evaluated thoughtfully on its merits. Every litigant must be treated with dignity and respect and be given an opportunity to be heard. My role is to apply the law fairly and consistently by looking at the text of the law and all relevant precedent. I make decisions that are just, fair, and in line with the law.
I am running to be retained because I believe my experience, both in civil and criminal law and as a presiding judge, uniquely qualifies to continue serving our community.

Having presided over hundreds of civil cases, I understand the complexities of civil litigation. As a former prosecutor, where I handled complex criminal cases including murder, sexual assault, crimes against children, gangs and trafficking in fentanyl, I have a deep understanding of public safety and the need for accountability in the justice system.

I am the only candidate in this race to bring such vast civil and criminal experience to the bench. I am committed to applying my experience and serving our community by providing thoughtful decisions that protect public safety and individual rights.
I am the only candidate for District Court Department 14 who has been endorsed by the civil and criminal bars, law enforcement, firefighters, veterans, businesses, and labor unions. Some key endorsements include District Attorney Steve Wolfson, LVMPD Sheriff Kevin McMahill, Public Safety Alliance of Nevada, Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers , Police Officers Association of Clark County School District, Boulder City Police Supervisors Association, Henderson Police Supervisors Association, North Las Vegas Police Officers Association, Voice of the Veteran, Professional Firefighters of Las Vegas, Southern Nevada Central Labor Council/AFL-CIO, Culinary Workers Union Local 165, Teamsters Local, LiUNA, SNBTU, Latin Chamber of Commerce.
