Four seats on the Tipton County Schools Board of Education were up for general election on August 7, 2014. Districts 2, 4, 6 and 8 were up for re-election.
The incumbents in Districts 4, 6 and 8 filed for re-election and ran unopposed. There was no qualified candidate in District 2 since incumbent Chris Fisher did not file for re-election and no other candidates filed for his seat.

Tipton County Schools is located in Tipton County, Tennessee. The county seat of Tipton County is Covington. Tipton County is home to 61,081 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[1] Tipton County Schools was the 12th-largest school district in Tennessee, serving 11,988 students during the 2011-2012 school year.[2]
Demographics
Tipton County underperformed in comparison to the rest of Tennessee in terms of higher education achievement in 2012. The United States Census Bureau found that 14.5 percent of Tipton County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 23.5 percent for Tennessee as a whole. The median household income in Tipton County was $51,847 compared to $44,140 for the state of Tennessee. The poverty rate in Tipton County was 14.0 percent compared to 17.3 percent for the entire state.[1]
