What is your political philosophy?

Free market, fewer regulations, lower taxes[4]

—Todd Johnson[1]

2016

The following issues were listed on Johnson's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • National Security and Terrorism: ISIS and other Extremist Islamic Terrorist organizations have declared open war on Christianity, freedom and the American way of life. Todd understands that we must be vigilant, strategic and unrelenting in the fight against extremism and terror.
  • Immigration and Refugees: Todd knows that illegal means illegal and anyone who enters the United States must do so legally. Todd believes it is a national embarrassment that our immigration system is broken and seems to reward lawlessness. To that end, Todd favors immigration reform designed to restore the rule of law and stop the spread of terrorism within the United States.
  • Gun Rights: Like most gun owners, Todd loves the guns he owns, but would love to own more. Gun ownership is an American birthright, and our Second Amendment really is America’s First Freedom. It is the right that makes all the other rights possible.
  • Taxes and Spending: With a deficit spiraling out of control and the national debt fast approaching $19 Trillion, Todd knows that we must rein in spending in a dramatic fashion if we are to preserve the fiscal solvency of America.
  • Abortion: Todd is 100% Pro-Life, and supports the protection of life from birth through natural death. Todd believes we must create a culture that values life and will work to promote alternatives to abortion in the public policy arena.[4]

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in North Carolina

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
