Campaign themes

2016

Klein's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]

Safety

There is nothing more important than the safety of our city.
  • Ensure that our water and electric needs are secured
  • Ensure that our police and fire departments are funded and have the resources needed to keep us safe
  • Review city plans for weather related challenges - whether it's tornado sirens or severe weather like the recent winter storm, we need to have plans in place to address these serious issues
  • Ensure that resources are in place so that our city streets are safe to drive and our neighborhoods safe to walk in[3]

Fiscal responsibility

Government should take care of the basics, and spend your money wisely.
  • Continue to hold the line on taxes
  • Reduce or eliminate "hidden taxes", the additional costs you unnecessarily pay for your fees
  • Ensure that additional city debt is limited to core services and voted on by the citizens[3]
