Campaign themes

2017

Brock’s campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Education
We must keep public money in public schools. Anyone who has ever considered purchasing property has been advised to look at one very important factor prior to purchase, “look at the schools in the neighborhood you’re buying in.” Property values are tied directly to public school performance. Every $1 in public school spending translates to $2 in neighborhood property values based on National Bureau of Economic Research findings.

Social and Economic Justice
It is time for Virginians to begin the process of ushering in an era of fairness. We must stand up and pursue actions that affirm the value of people of color. We must stop marginalizing our fellow Virginians due to their religion, skin color or sexual orientation.

Jobs and the Economy
Virginia has a broad and diverse economy, we are ranked in the top ten best state economies in the US, yet we still have large communities that are hobbled by poverty. There are opportunities to rebuild communities with renewable technology manufacturing and production. We can help incentivize local business in declining communities with empowerment zones. If our citizens prosper our economy will grow with it. The time has come to pay workers a living wage and to allow them to build their local economies with strong local business.

Disability
In order to best empower, understand and build solidarity with the Disabled Community in the Struggle for a Social Equity, it is imperative that that key issues affecting the Disabled Community be laid out, evaluated, discussed and addressed by our State Legislature.[3]
