Tom Gallagher was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 61B of the Minnesota House of Representatives. He ran unsuccessfully for the same seat in 2014.

Campaign themes

2014

Gallagher's website highlighted the following campaign themes:

1. Restore the Fourth Amendment protection against warrantless searches and seizures, including electronic means. End government spying on citizens.

2. Open government, not secret government. Respect natural rights, human rights and civil rights of the individual, and strengthen protections described in the United States and Minnesota Constitutions, and Bill of Rights. Strengthen Liberty and Property rights of the People under the laws.

3. Reform Minnesota “asset forfeiture” laws to stop abuse; require conviction before government can seize and keep your cash and property. Support HF 1082.

4. Fight laws allowing government detention without due process, like National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Support Liberty Preservation Act SF 2854.

5. End mass incarceration. End mandatory minimum sentencing laws and restore the courts’ power to make the punishment fit the crime. Expand expungement.

6. Respect the basic human right to self-defense, including with arms. Support the Second Amendment rights of the People.

7. Increase political participation and welcome all people to participate in the Republican Party, while fostering nonpartisan focus upon solutions.[1][2]
