Thomas J. Gritton is a circuit court judge for the Winnebago County Circuit Court in Wisconsin. He was elected in 2000 and re-elected in 2006 and 2012. His current term expires in 2018.[1][2]

Education

Gritton earned his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and his J.D. from the Hamline University School of Law.[3]

Noteworthy cases

Child neglect sentence for Richard A. Root

On December 16, 2017, Gritton sentenced Richard A. Root to six months in jail and seven years' probation for "child neglect resulting in great bodily harm" after Root shook and beat his infant daughter, causing broken bones and internal bleeding. As part of his probation, Gritton ordered Root "to not have or use alcohol or drugs, to keep a job or attend school full time and to undergo counseling."[4]

2012 election

Judge Gritton ran unopposed and was re-elected to the Winnebago County Circuit Court, Branch 1.[5]
