Elections for the Idaho State Senate were held in 2016. The primary election took place on May 17, 2016, and the general election was held on November 8, 2016. The candidate filing deadline was March 11, 2016. Incumbent Roy Lacey (D) did not seek re-election.

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 14, 2014. Incumbent Roy Lacey was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while write-in candidate Kert Howard defeated write-in candidate Tom Katsilometes (R) in the Republican primary. Lacey defeated Howard in the general election.[7][8][9][10]
