Tom Kirby (Republican Party) was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 114. He assumed office on March 12, 2012. He left office on January 9, 2023.

Kirby (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Georgia House of Representatives to represent District 114. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.

Biography

Tom Kirby was born in Paris, Kentucky. As of January 2020, he lived in Loganville, Georgia. He earned his bachelor's degree in agriculture economics at the University of Kentucky. His career experience includes working as a human resources safety manager. He has served on the board of directors for Walton County Chamber of Commerce.[1]

Elections for the Georgia House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014, with runoff elections taking place where necessary on July 22, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. G. Keith Thomas was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent L. Thomas "Tom" Kirby was unopposed in the Republican primary. Thomas was defeated by Kirby in the general election.[6][7][8]

2012 special election

Kirby faced Mark Banks (R), Paul Smith (R), and Michael Lynch (nonpartisan) in the special election on February 7. In Georgia special elections, party affiliation is listed, but all candidates appear on the same ballot. Smith and Kirby were the top two vote-getters and proceeded to a runoff election on March 6, 2012.[13][14][15]

Kirby went on to defeat Smith in the March 6 runoff. Kirby won by a 52%-48% margin.[16][17]
