Tom M. Lytton was a justice on the Illinois Third District Appellate Court. He was elected to this position in 1992,[1] effective December 7, and was retained by voters in 2002 and 2012.[2] He retired on July 1, 2022.[3]

Education

Lytton attended Northwestern University for his B.A. degree, which he received in 1965. In 1967, he earned a certificate of graduation from the International School of Law in The Hague, Holland. The following year, he graduated from the Northwestern University Law School with a J.D. degree.[1]

Career

Lytton began his legal career in 1968 as an attorney for VISTA in Charleston, WV. He then worked with the Neighborhood Legal Services of Pittsburgh, PA from 1969 to 1973, when he became a partner in the firm of Lytton, Lytton & Sutton. He worked in this capacity until 1992. During this time, from 1981 to 1992, he was also a special assistant attorney general. He was then elected to the Appellate Court.[1]

2012 election

Lytton was retained on Nov. 6, 2012 with 79.7% of the vote.[4][5]
