Tom Moran is a judge on the 7th Judicial District of the New York Supreme Court. He currently works as the District Attorney for Livingston County, New York.[1] He was elected on November 8, 2011 to a fourteen-year term on the court which began on January 1, 2012. His current term on the Supreme Court ends on December 31, 2025.[2]

Education

Moran received his associate degree (Criminal Justice/Political Science) from Monroe Community College in 1975, his undergraduate degree (Criminal Justice) from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1981, and his J.D. degree from the Syracuse University College of Law in 1984.[1]

Career

Moran began his career as a Deputy Sheriff in Livingston County and then as a police officer for the Town of Brighton. He began his legal career in 1986. He worked as a private practice attorney and a part-time Assistant Livingston County District Attorney. After serving for a year (1992-93) as justice of the Livonia Town Court, he was appointed to the position of Livingston County District Attorney. He served in that capacity until he was elected to the Supreme Court in 2011.[1]

Moran won election to the New York Supreme Court 7th Judicial District on November 8th. He ran on the Republican, Conservative and Independence party lines, along with incumbent Nancy Smith. He ran unopposed in the Primary and General Elections.[1][3][2]
