Tom W. Kimbrell
Tom W. Kimbrell is the former Arkansas Commissioner of Education. Kimbrell was appointed to the position in 2009 by Governor Mike Beebe and served until 2014.[1]
Biography
Before becoming commissioner, Kimbrell served as executive director of the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators from 2005 to 2009 and, before that, as superintendent of the North Little Rock and Paragould school districts. Prior to becoming superintendent, he worked in various school administration roles, from director of fiscal services in the Paragould district to assistant principal in the Corning district. He was also a teacher and coach in the Paragould and Pocahontas districts.[1]

Political career
Commissioner of Education (2009-2014)
Kimbrell was first appointed in September 2009 and served in office until resigning on July 1, 2014, to become the superintendent of Bryant Public Schools.[3] As the commissioner of education served at the pleasure of the governor, Kimbrell was not subject to reappointment.[2]
Executive Director, AAEA (2005-2009)
Before becoming commissioner, Kimbrell served as executive director of the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators from 2005 to 2009.[2]
