Tommy Hopper is the founder and principal of The Hopper Group, LLC, a political campaign consulting and management firm in Tennessee that handles direct-mail campaigns and media campaigns, among other campaign functions.[1] The firm has provided support and direction to many state candidates as well as national candidates, including President George H.W. Bush and Senator Lamar Alexander.[2] Hopper has also served as the chair of the Tennessee Republican Party and the political director of the Republican National Committee.[1][3][4]
Career
Tommy Hopper’s first campaign experience was as a volunteer for Senator Bill Brock in 1976.[1] His first paid campaign experience was in 1984. He started The Hopper Group, LLC, in 1993 and has worked with many Republican candidates in Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia as well as at the national level.[1][2] He worked with successful U.S. Congressman Stephen Fincher during his 2010 election and on the unsuccessful 2012 campaign of congressional candidate Scottie Mayfield.[5][6] Neither Fincher nor Mayfield had held political office before these elections.[5] In addition to The Hopper Group, LLC, Hopper has also worked with Margin of Victory Partners, another campaign consulting firm in Tennessee.[7]
Hopper also served as the chair of the Tennessee Republican Party in 1991 and 1992 and as the political director of the Republican National Committee in 1997.[3][8][9]
