Toni Foulkes
Toni Foulkes was a member of the Chicago City Council in Illinois, representing Ward 16. Foulkes assumed office in 2015. Foulkes left office on May 20, 2019.
Foulkes ran for re-election to the Chicago City Council to represent Ward 16 in Illinois. Foulkes lost in the general runoff election on April 2, 2019.
Foulkes previously represented Ward 15 from 2007 to 2015.[1] She announced that she would run for the Ward 16 seat in April 2014. Her decision was based on redistricting that took place in 2012. In regards to this transition, Foulkes said, "These neighborhoods are my friends, but Englewood is my family. Englewood is the community I was elected to represent in 2007, and I will not abort my African-American community."[2][3]

2015
The city of Chicago, Illinois, held elections for city council on February 24, 2015. A runoff will take place on April 7, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was November 24, 2014.[4] In the general election for Ward 16, Ward 15 incumbent Toni Foulkes and challenger Stephanie Coleman advanced past challengers Cynthia Lomax and Jose A. Garcia.[5] Foulkes narrowly defeated Coleman in the runoff election on April 7, 2015. Incumbent JoAnn Thompson passed away on February 9, 2015.[6] The Chicago Board of Election Commissioners removed her name from the ballot the following week.[7] Guadalupe Rivera and Jeffrey L. Lewis were removed from the ballot in January 2015.[8]
