Abbatangelo won 40.35% of the vote in the primary, advancing him to general election. He was defeated by Janiece Marshall in that election.[1] [2]
Judicial misconduct
Abbatangelo was publicly censured by the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission on March 30, 2011 for violation of the Nevada Code of Judicial Conduct. The violation was a result of a conviction of misdemeanor domestic battery from a 2008 incident involving his now ex-wife. He pleaded no contest to the conviction in 2009 and he and his wife divorced. On March 9, 2011, he reached an agreement with the Judicial Discipline Commission in order to avoid a hearing and a formal statement of charges. The commission has prohibited him from seeking judicial office for the next four years.[3]
