My name is Tony Mannor and I am running for Mayor of Stockton in the 2016 election. I did not make this decision lightly. I chose to run for Mayor because the direction of our city has me worried for the future of my family, my businesses and my city. The issues that I find to be most critical for our survival and success as a community have, over the last few years, been relegated to sound bites and election year campaign issues as they have been for decades. We Need Solutions. It seems like the career politicians running our city have been happy to treat the problems facing our city indefinitely without actually finding a cure. As a business owner, I dont have the luxury of kicking my problems down the street. When something is broken on Monday, you have to fix it by Tuesday or you may be out of business by Friday. Problems have to be fixed not managed. I have spent a great many years helping companies all over the country, large and small, develop strong brands, increase their productivity and develop growth strategies that have been successful and profitable. I want to bring this experience and track record of success to Stockton and city government. I want to fix what is broken. I want to realign our brand throughout the country and show the rest of the country why we are so proud of our “Port City”. I want to spur outside capital investment in Stockton that brings the good paying jobs to our community. But most of all, I want to be part of the winning team that our City Council could be under effective leadership with a clear and defined plan for success. We Need Effective Leadership I am a problem solver. 25 years as a programmer has given me the discipline to see through a problem using concise and documented methodology and logic. Two decades as a project leader has taught me how to find common ground with each member of a diverse team comprised of members from many departments and find each individual’s strengths. It is this experience that helped me to align unique personalities to get on the same track, fighting for a common goal. This is something that Stockton desperately needs. I understand the needs of the small and medium sized businesses that are struggling to succeed in Stockton. I want to work closely with the business community members to find ways to help them be more successful so that they can grow and hire more people thus furthering to stabilizing our local economy. Help Those Who Want Help. I will tackle our growing homelessness problem with logical and practical solutions while not burdening our already “stretched thin” public works, law enforcement and municipal budgets with the costs. Bring Jobs to Stockton I will work to develop new industries here in Stockton. With every vein of transportation in the state travelling through our city we have the opportunity and can be positioned to become the economic heartbeat of northern California. I can help our city achieve this goal by working with neighboring communities, counties and attracting businesses from all over the state. But First, We Have to Solve Our Crime Problem. All of these ideas are possible if we first tackle the imminent and most critical challenge facing Stockton. It is our persistent crime problem and our negative national reputation due to our leaders failure to address it aggressively. I plan to work closely with local and federal law enforcement agencies to fight for the funding and cooperation required to solve this problem. This is the first step towards creating a better quality of life for our residents. It is the first step in repairing our reputation and our city brand. It is the first step in making Stockton competitive in our state economy. We will become a city that is ready for financial investment. This is our first step in rebranding Stockton as the world-class city that we all know it can be. All It Takes Is A Plan! All it takes is a plan and the right person to execute that plan. I hope that you give me the chance to do this for you, for me and for the future of my family and our city.[2] |
